Based on the 1992 Academy-Award®-winning film and the 2014 hit Broadway show, Disney’s Aladdin JR. is about a “diamond in the rough” street rat who learns that his true worth lies deep within.
The story you know and love has been given the royal treatment! Aladdin (played by Ryan Cruz) and his three friends, Babkak, Omar, and Kassim, are down on their luck until Aladdin discovers a magic lamp and the Genie (played by Derrian Brown) who has the power to grant three wishes. Wanting to earn the respect of the princess Jasmine (played by Saanvi Diskalkar), Aladdin embarks on an adventure that will test his will and his moral character.
With expanded characters, new songs, and more thrills, this new adaptation of the beloved story will open up “a whole new world” for audiences to enjoy!
Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves is an adaptation of an ancient Arabic tale and begins around 1910 as two young students stumble upon the book The Tales of the Arabian Nights and begin to read the story. We are transported to another place in time to the Arabian Desert as Hathif opens a cave using the famous words "Open Sesame" and his band of thieves hide their treasures. Ali Baba (Norman Hartley), having overheard the secret words, opens the cave and takes some treasure. Knowing his family could be in great danger, Ali suggests that they bury the treasure and not reveal their new wealth. Sarhara, his wife, not able to keep such a secret tells Ali's brother, Cassim, and her sister-in-law, Zaina. Cassim (played by Kaden Waters) is a rich, greedy man. He pressures Ali to share the secret of the cave; only to be caught by Hathif and banish to the desert. With Cassim gone, Zaina and her servant, Morgiana (the true heroine of the story played by Charlotte Wearne), move in with Ali and his family. Morgiana falls in love with Tamir, Ali's son, but knows that nothing could ever come of it without her freedom. The brave and witty servant finds herself saving Ali Baba's life; time and time again.
